Lady C - June 2019 Update

I think June has seen more rain fall than we have had in previous 3 months, with the course being closed for nearly a week, which is totally unheard of for Worfield, cancelling some of the Handicap and Mini League Matches
Unfortunately we lost our Ladies Friendly Match against Bridgnorth, the Seniors Friendly at Ludlow was cancelled due to lack of numbers due to ladies being away on holiday, but on a brighter note we had a win against Shifnal Senior Ladies at home.
We were successful in our Mixed Friendly held on Sunday 23rd June against Lilleshall winning 6/1. The weather was kind up until the last hour in which unfortunately Bel & Ade, the only game to go to 18 holes, got soaked. We certainly had a few comments about the rough but overall the visitors thought the Course was in tremendous condition.
Friday 30th June was the Seniors Away Day which was held at Worcester Golf Club. We had 23 men and 7 Ladies competing in a Team Stableford Competition.The weather and the Course was extremely good , as was the the meal that followed the game. A great day was had by all. I am very pleased to report that the the Handicap & Mini League Teams are through to the 2nd Round of their competitions. The Handicap League have been drawn against Church Stretton and Hill Valley (AGAIN!) and the Mini League have drawn Aqualate. My congratulations to everyone who has played in the teams.
Unfortunately the Knights & Maidens Annual Jousting Competition was postponed due to the Knights having other golfing committments. Hopefully this will be rearranged for later in the year.
On a sadder note , Cliff Cain’s funeral was held on the 13th June 2019 at Bushbury Crematorium. A very sad affair which was attended by a lot of Members from Worfield. It was obvious from the amount of people who attended the funeral that Cliff was a very popular man who had a great number of family and friends. The Wake followed at Perton Golf Club.
