Lady Captains Report – March 2019

Well my Year as “Figure Head” (Lady Captain) has begun and I am pleased to say that the 9 hole competition followed by the AGM went very well. Thank you to all the Ladies who attended for their kind words of encouragement.
The Presentation of last year’s awards held on 3rd March 2019, kindly organised by Kim, went very well with 14 ladies attending. Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions my Captains Drive In which was due to follow afterwards was postponed. I seem to recollect I had issues with the weather in 2016 so lets just hope it doesn’t happen again.
Mr Captains Drive In in the morning went ahead despite the weather and was a great success. Together with the Ladies contribution we raised £625 for our chosen charity “Alzheimer’s Society”
The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. Bill & I have chosen this charity because it is only when you have someone close to you that has the illness that you take more notice of what the illness is about. Two years ago Bill’s sister at the age of 75 who was super Mom,Grandmother and a larger than life Sister was diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer’s, she is now in a home, unable to care for herself and does not recognise us.
In the UK, one person develops Dementia every 3 minutes. It turns lives upside down and currently there is no cure. To many people living with dementia face the condition alone, excluded from society and without the
support they need.The Alzheimer’s Society is determined to change this and create a dementia friendly world where people with dementia are included and supported to live the lives they want and theirs rights are upheld. They are here to support everyone effected by dementia and fund research into finding a cure . This is where we hope to help with our charity raising events so any support would be gratefully appreciated.
My Drive In has been rearranged Monday 25th March 2019 when I hope as many ladies as possible will be able to join me. The weather forecast for next Monday is OK at the moment!
My first official competition as LC was in the Daily Mail Foursomes with Sally which we played on Sunday 17th March against Shrewsbury. The weather conditions were not great, no surprise there, but we managed a 4 & 2 win.
