CAPTAINS BLOG MARCH 2019

Hi Fellow Golfers,
Following the AGM and Captains Drive In I would like to thank everyone for their support and good wishes especially the Committee and Vice-Captain Mel Holdnall. The Drive In was a fairly nervy affair and something I am not used to, but I am sure I will get better as the year progresses, probably by the time my year finishes.
We had over 60 people in the Drive In ,and considering the weather forecast it was an exceptional turnout, fortunately the rain arrived late so we didn’t get too wet. We raised an amazing £625. 00 for our Charity, which included £136 from the ladies’ section, an exceptional effort thanks to everyone’s generosity.
The summer seasons starts soon, we have 2 friendly matches arranged on the 6th April against Lilleshall at home and the 20th April away at Telford. Nigel Hill is in charge of arranging these games so if you would like to play please contact him.
Good luck to Simon Evans and the Handicap Team who start their defence on the 13th of April against Patshull at home.
The semi final of the Ken Smith is nearing completion and it looks like we might not make the final even though the Team have drawn 2 games and lost I match 2/1. The opposition has been very tough and Captain Will Weaver been very impressed with the commitment and performance of all concerned, I am sure he will give us a report when they have played their last match.
I am looking forward to the year with some trepidation and hope for some success and good weather.
Bill Morris, Captain.
