We then progressed into the semi-finals which was again a league of 3 teams which included Hawkstone Park and Shrewsbury. Unfortunately we narrowly failed to qualify for the final by 1 point. We beat Shrewsbury at home and halved with them away then halved with Hawkstone at home but suffered our only loss away at Hawkstone.
I am disappointed because with a bit of luck I feel we could have made the final, but we have all thoroughly enjoyed the competition. I would personally like to thank all the players for their total commitment. Some have taken time off work to play and all have played the games with a competitive approach but in a friendly manner, The team was Myself, Steve Hodgson, Simon Lewis, Paul Lewis, Phil Beswick and Nick Elwiss with Mel Holdnall and Steve Bagshaw playing in the early rounds. Two other people who have been very helpful are Tommo who has always presented the course in an outstanding condition and Ann who has provided us with food and drink which was very well received.
Finally, we start again in October so if you are 55 or over at that point or you became that age during the winter months please give me a call ( 07974 916342 or 01746714165) you will need to be under 12 handicap with the format being 4bbb scratch from the white tees.
